I went to this place to pick up a cake my wife ordered for our daughters' first birthday. As funny as it sounds, my daughter's birthday was on Easter so Liliana stayed late to work on the cake for us on Saturday. I picked up the cake and went home. Little did I know, as soon as I got home, the cake fell apart. I was driving carefully but if you are from Seattle, you know the roads are not safe for cakes. When I got home, I was depleted, sad but it was out of my hands. My wife was so positive and said that's ok, let's make a memory out of that and she planned on fixing it. When she assessed the damage, she didn't feel comfortable trying to fix the cake. So I called Liliana back and told her what happened. Mind you, she's already tired and needs to prepare for Easter the next day, she was so worried and almost got a heart attack when she saw the cake. But she said I am not going to let this happen for your daughter's first birthday even if it means working late and delivering the cake on Easter. I have never ever seen a customer service such as this and the icing on the cake was that the cake was absolutely amazing. If that wasn't enough, she called me the next day to check how everything went and if I was happy.
I know this place is hidden but if you are ever in need of any vegan cakes or desserts, you know where to go. I have already told my friends and my family and will continue to spread the word, she's AMAZING! -

I was extremely excited to try this place, and I am really disappointed that I have to rate it 1 star...
My friend's birthday is coming up, and he has a severe dairy allergy. One of his favorite establishments, is a vegan dessert shop called The Cookie Counter. I was looking to see if they made cakes, so that I could order one for his birthday. They said that unfortunately they don't make cakes, but they highly recommended Brown Sugar Bakery.
I've never heard of Brown Sugar Bakery, so I decided to look it up. I was amazed to see that they had 5 stars ratings on both Google and Yelp. All of the reviews were really positive, so I felt confident that they would produce an amazing cake.
Upon doing some research, I noticed that the store hours were a bit odd. They're only open from 10-2 PM on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. It led me to believe that it's a custom cake shop only, and not a bakery. I ended up reading reviews saying that cakes are made by appointment only, so I decided to shoot them an email.
I noticed that they had all of their contact information readily available on Instagram, so I emailed them through the email that they had listed on there. I sent an email on August 7th, and didn't get a response. I initially thought to myself, "no worries. Just give it some time. I'm sure that they're really busy, and don't have time to respond instantly." I waited two more days, and it was still radio silent.
On their contact information on their website, they had a different email listed than the one on their Instagram page. I thought "Ahh. That must be the reason why I haven't gotten a response. They probably changed their email, but forgot to update it on Instagram. No worries, I'll just email them again." So I sent an email to the address that was listed on their website, 2 days after sending an email to the address that was listed on their Instagram page.
After waiting a week, I still hadn't gotten a response. I saw another reviewer talking about how all of their correspondence was through Facebook messenger, so I messaged their Facebook page yesterday. Still no response.
It's been over a week since my initial email, and I'm deciding to throw in the towel. From what I've read, it seems as if the business is a one woman show. I believe that the business is ran by a woman named Lillian. I understand how hard it must be to run a highly successful bakery by yourself, so I patiently waited for a response to my emails.
After waiting a week with a total of 3 messages sent (2 emails, and one Facebook message), I can no longer have hope that I'm ever going to get a response. I feel as if I'm trying to get in contact with a celebrity at this point. Lol.
Maybe one day I'll be lucky enough to try this place out. :( -

I'm doing this review in two parts. This is because I haven't actually eaten the galette, this review is just about the experience I had while placing an order here for the first time and won't be the last. I feel bad because I didn't get the lady's name I ordered with, however, she is amazing. I found this bakery by looking up gluten-free vegan bakery. Typically I stay away from places that don't have a lot of reviews. The photos looked delicious, so I decided to roll the dice.
I called to order a dessert, I do things incredibly last minuet (I ordered Thursday and she had it ready on Friday). Since I'm well aware of that, I accept the consequences that come with procrastination. Sometimes I get lucky and can come through.
I called and said that I needed a dessert without the following because my really amazing friend has allergies:
- cow milk dairy, wheat, eggs, honey, sugar cane banana, pineapple, clams, crab, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, and amaranth...
But I didn't know of any desserts, and she suggested a galette. I was like sure, she said are you sure. I was like given the fact that I couldn't think of any desserts yeah!
The tart smells and looks great. My friend is super excited. I will update this review, once we've eaten the tart. -

If you are looking for desserts for an event, look no further! We ordered the carrot cake squares, brownies and lemon bars for a company event. I wish I could have taken pictures because they looked like fancy petit fours(?) with pipped carrots, ganache topping, and candied lemon peel. But they were immediately devoured by our guests!!! I would highly recommend this business for parties, corporate events, weddings, etc. Everything was beautiful, delicious, and the service was incredible :-) If you have a larger order, place it 2 weeks in advance, though you can probably get away with 1 week in advance since Lilian is baking everything, everyday, and was very accommodating with fitting our order in.
We wanted delicious food that everyone could eat, and everything was egg-free, dairy-free, soy-free and nut-free. The brownies and lemon bars were gluten free! But I didn't tell anyone unless they approached me and asked if there were any XXX options. I could tell them "yes! you can eat all of them!" No one suspected they were vegan.
Even if you aren't vegan I would suggest you support this business, you won't be disappointed with the presentation or the taste and will delight all your guests who may be allergic to eggs, dairy, or wheat. Lilian, the owner, is very lovely and gave samples to the coworkers who went to pick the order up, who then raved for days about her kindness and how delicious everything was. -

So excited that we found a vegan and nut free bakery! My niece has these allergies and it's always so sad to see that she can't enjoy the party cakes like everyone else. I looked on yelp and luckily found this wonderful bakery!!!! I highly suggest ordering in advance for graduations. They also do weddings :)
